Whilst I really enjoy writing – I’ve been pretty busy over the last couple of weeks and felt a little overwhelmed by the idea of writing about everything I had done. Trying to get the detail down led me to not want to write anything – which was pretty much the process I would go through when I wanted to keep a diary, but found it too much to do every thing in the level of detail I wanted.
The solution for my diary was simplifying and cutting right back, to the current form I have today of gratitude journalling every day. 1 thing I am grateful for and 1 thing I want to achieve that day. With that in mind I thought I would share what I have done in a far more basic form:
Volunteering at UTS (Ultra Trail Snowdonia) two weekends ago.

A brilliant experience. Mountain running with a local group on the Thursday PM. I thought I’d be gone for an hour or so, turned out to be nearly 2h 45m before I got back, and proper up / down mountain running. Friday and Saturday saw Jen & I do full days volunteering at aid station 2. Talking to all the 100mile and 100km runners was great, alongside which it gave me such a helpful insight into just how much & how helpful volunteers are.
Sunday we had a really lovely walk around the lake in Llanberis and gave a slightly dazed American called John a lift back to his hotel.
This weekend: Night of the 10,000pbs:

Above is the first women’s race.
Top class racing at Parliament Hill. Shame I had to leave to get back home before the U17/U20 800’s and the elite men’s and women’s races.
Some footage of Paul Chelimo another coach I know took. Very smooth.
Both elite men’s and women’s winners were something special. Adane & Chelimo.
Courses:
I qualified as an UKAthletics Endurance Event Group coach – one step on from a Coach in Running Fitness. A good 2 days discussion with 7 other coaches, looking at 2 young runners and planning out how we would support and progress them
Mentoring with Gary Ward.
This a 10 week mentoring program, with around 25 other people, all at different stages / levels of knowledge around movement, the body and how to use Gary’s Anatomy in Motion program to understand and improve ourselves and others.
Week 3 today, I’ve begun to explore my body (my feet are especially fascinating) So much to learn here. The biggest take away so far is how important watching ourselves back is. What we think is happening in our bodies, as opposed to what is actually happening is pretty different and pretty astounding. Weight being off to one side, feet not doing what you think that they are. All great learnings.
