I had a great night last Friday. One of the guys I coach was running in the Friday Night Under the Lights 5k races at Battersea Park. 4 mens races & 1 women’s elite race made for fast racing (mens race was won in 14:07 by Tom Keen, womens in 15:48 by Revee Walcott Nolan. Bandstand with DJ, being 200m or so from the start, by the bandstand was wonderful when the runners came tearing past. There is something wonderfully visceral and satisfying about being so close to a group of charging people.
Weather was perfect, racing great. Next one is March 17th.
I then followed this by racing the Tunbridge Wells half on the Sunday. 39th overall – 6th in age cat in a time of 1:23’18, faster than I expected (I was looking for around 1:25-1:26) with a ridiculous hill in the middle, amongst a lot of undulations. Very pleased, slight tightness in right hamstring to watch, onwards and upwards to Boston.
